California Healthy Kids Survey

Starting November 9, PUSD students and parents will be able to take the California Healthy Kids Survey, a tool supported by the California Department of Education to help districts meet Local Control Accountability Plan priorities to improve school climate, pupil engagement, parent involvement, and academic achievement.

The CHKS is a modular, anonymous assessment recommended for students age 10 (grade 5) and above. It is focused on the five most important areas for guiding school and student improvement:

  • student connectedness, learning engagement/motivation, and attendance;
  • school climate, culture, and conditions;
  • school safety, including violence perpetration and victimization/bullying;
  • physical and mental well-being and social-emotional learning; and
  • student supports, including resilience-promoting developmental factors (caring relationships, high expectations, and meaningful participation).
We will be linking the parent survey to each site, beginning on November 9. Below are example surveys that students will be taking, based on their individual grade level.

We appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to help us with this valuable survey.
